HELLO hello hello hello...
In case you couldn't tell, that's my way of imitating the echoed sound of reverberating typing that comes from adding one's two cents to the vastness of contributors on the interwebs. Haunting, I know.
I find the concept of keeping a blog rather daunting, but in this day and age, and with my situation, I feel like it's an important outlet. What situation, you ask silently in your head because you're not a crazy person? Why, I'm an Air Force officer's wife! Oh, the adventure, you must be thinking. Indeed, quite the adventure, an adventure I've only barely embarked upon with my wonderful husband.
Already in my short stint with the Air Force, we've encountered a few of the frustrations that come with living the military lifestyle. I've traveled across the country with my mother-in-law and two furbabies only to be told the next day to pack up and head on back. My husband has been deprived (or, hopefully, just delayed) of what, in my entirely unbiased opinion, is more than rightfully what he deserves in terms of career choice.
But still, I already love the Air Force: the sense of community that comes from knowing at any moment, you could virtually depend upon a neighbor on a base you've been at for less than a week when your husband says he has to go for a week, a month, a year; the camaraderie that stems from knowing that these men and women could very well be the difference between life and death for the one you love; the opportunities to witness such a significant part of history through a man who wears daily the uniform he might bring into battle.
So it's here that I hope to share some of the exciting and some of the more mundane aspects of creating a home, sharing the tidbits of wisdom I can tell I've already begun to glean from those around me, and, occasionally, from necessity.
From furnishing a house as newlyweds, to exploring new locals, to trying to understand half of the acronyms my husband spouts off on a daily basis, I know that I'm not on this journey alone. In the words of e. e. cummings, I'm going "somewhere I have never travelled, gladly beyond any experience" and beginning this chapter of life with my God and my family.
