After three more freakin' days driving, we got to our hotel in Ohio yesterday. The trip was uneventful through those fun midwest states. We did see a few interesting things.
McDonald's Glass House in Oklahoma. It was pretty cool-the dining area overlooked the highway and they had a gift shop.
And there was a CANDY FACTORY! It actually was pretty mediocre. I got a bunch of random flavored taffies to try, but silly me has been sticking to the familiar and tasty ones :)
Probably the highlight of the trip was Andrew getting out of ANOTHER speeding ticket. He wasn't going all that fast to begin with, but I guess he backs those state troopers into a corner when the trooper asks where he's headed and why he has a Colorado license and he says "Well sir, I'm headed to an assignment in Ohio from our current base in Albuquerque, but I got my license while at the Air Force Academy in Colorado." Seriously, no time was even wasted: "Slow it down for me, have a good day."
There wasn't availability for all the students in this program on base, so we're staying literally right outside the gate. The actual class isn't on base either. In fact, Andrew's looking into getting a hotel a little nicer, closer to the class. (Actually, this didn't work out-in order to switch, he'd have to find a place as cheap as this one rather than just staying within the per diem). Still, this hotel isn't so bad. Obviously, they allow pets, and actually have tons of yard space for us to walk. And we got a microwave AND a minifridge! Yeah, awesome to live like a first year college student again.
This is now surrounded in cheap, awesome food.
Forgive the mess. I guess all they had was two double beds. Usually this sleeping situation has Andrew, Sam, and I on one and Lilah on the other.
Let's just say I'm glad this one is only three weeks versus six. We'll see how it goes!
"another" speeding ticket...honing the negotiation skills?
ReplyDeleteDual comment here. That was Dad above which means this is the Mom. Watched "Julie and Julia" so I am watching to see where this goes...Love you both so much. :-)
Haha more like the honing the natural charm.
ReplyDeleteDon't want to disappoint you, but I wouldn't look for movie quality blog posts :). Just having fun and keeping people aware of our oh-so-thrilling adventures :)
