(Death Cab reference, just so no one thinks I'm insane...)
Things are definitely getting settled here in NM. I've been putting off writing a post because I'd like to include lots of pictures of our house, but I don't feel prepared to do that yet, so I'm stalling (I'm nothing if not honest).
The living room is pretty much set up, complete with fancy hand-me-down hutch, couches, TV stand (+TV), a coffee table, an end table, and two lamps-that's right: TWO. Hello adulthood. I even ordered an ottoman storage bench thingy (technical designer name, you wouldn't understand. My dear husband insists that ottoman and bench are mutually exclusive terms, but he's wrong. So there.) to go in here, AND we have a generic framed flower painting. Yeah, we're pretty much the most sophisticated people ever.
The kitchen looks pretty good, but our dining area is bare. If all goes accordingly though, it shouldn't be for long...I won't go into further detail to ruin the surprise for my many (1? 2? anyone?) readers, but a hefty expenditure in the next couple months might be making it's debut over there.
Our bedroom is set up, but the other two are a hot mess. We ordered two bookshelves and a desk to go in one, so that should help significantly with getting our millions of books up off the floor. I never realized how many books we had until they prevented us from walking into a room. The other is filled with garbage, and I mean that literally. I still have to call the movers to get rid of all the boxes and packaging. Bleh...
I've put a few fall-esque decorations up (can 2 be counted as a few?). I had plans to go further into Halloween decor, but it turns out we won't even be here. Where will we be? The road, of course! Only our favorite place ever. Thrilled. More details TBA on that.
$6 beaded pumpkins from Wally World in my awesome Marshall's bowl. I actually love them, and for future fall decorations have a lot of similar, though hopefully homemade, ideas.
Note the $109 TV stand in the background. It has a crooked door, which has been the bane of the Smith household since put together.
I have about 800 ideas for making things more homey, including a wall gallery that I'm getting started on, but for now, we're at least in a place that seems moderately livable. And I really, really love it.
